History
The first inhabitants were the Indigenous people called indios.
The meaning of indios is Indianans.
the country still uses that name till this day.
An early civilization is Norte Chico.
Norte Chico is possibly a 15 year investigation.
People
In Peru, 60% of the population are Mestizos.
the other 40% are Ameridans.
Mestizos are half white and half Native American.
Ameridans are just Native Americans.
The population in Peru is 2.99 million people.
Some of Peru's traditions and customs are to make natural medicine, traditional clothing, hand craft goods, & performing their dances at special festivals.
Government
In Peru they have their own military.
It is called The Peruvian Armed Forces.
The people who make the laws are the government, political parties, and the President. the President's name is Ollanta Humala.
Physical Features & Landforms
A famous physical landform in Peru is Machu Picchu.
Machu Picchu is 7,000 feet above sea level.
An interesting fact about Machu Picchu is that it was made in the 15th century.
Climate
In the eastern lowlands like the Peruvian Amazon, it gets pretty warm.
Peru has four seasons just like the United States.
From November to March, it is Summer. From June to September, it is Winter.
In April and May, it is Spring and in October, it is Fall.
Economy
Peru has a lot of products that are marketable.
They offer minerals such as gold, copper, and zinc.
Some of the products that Peru sells are coffee, peanuts, beans, fruits and medicine.
The currency they use is called Nuevo Sol, and in some parts they also use the US dollar.
Traditional Food
Alfajores are a Peruvian type of shortbread sandwich cookie that are filled with Dulce de Leche (caramel filling).
Its a dessert type food that you can have with a cup of coffee.
Inka Cola in equivalent to Coca Cola of the United States. It dates back to 1935. Its a great tasting soda.
These are just some of the wonderful things that Peru has to offer.
My grandpa
Louie Asnaran was born in Peru in 1954. Both of his parents were Peruvian.
He moved to New York at the age of 17 by himself to live the "American Dream".
